Sprint GTV (Fast Road/Track Day – Swedish)
Sprint GTV/GTA ‘lookalike’ shipped across from Sweden to Alfaholics for a full mechanical transformation. The owner, a dedicated 105 Series Alfisti, is a keen trackday enthustiast with many Nurburgring laps under his belt in his Porsche 996 GT3.
He asked for a specification suitable for driving his Sprint GTV on the roads at weekends, along with long distance driving to and from trackdays such as the Nurburgring. To meet the owner’s requirements and ensuring that the car didn’t feel slow in comparison to his Porsche, we needed to build a powerful yet torquey engine which would behave impeccibly in traffic, just the job for our 195BHP twinspark engine running 45mm Webers and 3-D mapped ignition!
We mated this to our lightweight flywheel & sports clutch kit, converting it to a hydraulically operated clutch. To match the engine’s power, we fitted our 4-pot brake kit and aluminium rear calipers to give him all the stopping power he would need.
We fully rebuilt the suspension, powercoating all the main Alfa components, rebushing and refitting with a fast road/trackday suspension setup incuding our FIA 2 1/4″ spring conversion, lightweight spring pans, 29mm rollbar with s4 ball joint drop links, Bilstein dampers.
We rebuilt its 4.55 axle and fitted our competition LSD to harness the power of the new TS engine, rebuilt his gearbox updating it to the later style molybdenum synchros, and fitted a set of Alfaholics GTA Superleggera wheels with Michelin Pilot Exalto tyres.
