Gearbox Rebuild Services
Alfaholics offer a service to fully rebuild and uprate your gearbox for fast road, track and competition use. Uprated to bring to the same specification as used in our GTA-R builds and works GTA Corsa race car. Built with our close ratio GTA-R gear kit, billet selector rods & forks, race grade synchromesh parts, quickshift linkage and optional magnesium tail casing.
magnesium tailcasing
We have reproduced Autodelta’s magnesium gearbox tailcasing (reserved in period for their works team cars) using modern grade magensium alloy for increased strength and durability. As used in our GTA-R 290 & 300 builds as well as our championship winning 1600 GTA Corsa.
Early cable gearbox conversion to hydraulic actuation
Early type gearboxes can be converted into the superior specification synchro system during the rebuild by using our ‘Alfaholics Early to Late Gearbox Synchromesh Conversion Kit’, we can also offer a full kit of parts to convert from cable to hydraulic release bearing actuation
Internal Components
Magnesium tail casing
Cast in magnesium with all the original casting details having been retained including the upside-down 105.32 part number.
Billet steel selector Forks
Machined from motorsport grade steel to reduce wear rate and increase strength compared to original bronze component. Redesigned with additional pressure pad to further optimise control/angle of synchro sleeve during gear selection resulting in a faster more positive gear shift action.
Billet steel selector rods
Manufactured from motorsport grade materials and machined to motorsport quality tolerance.
- Improved 3rd & 4th rod design to be tougher and stronger.
- Great radiuses and increased thickness to strengthen weak points.
Quickshift kit
Designed to speed up the actuation ratio to improve gearshift time and consciously designed to keep an original appearance of a classic Alfa gear lever (instead of an unsightly remote style gear lever making the cars look heavily modified).
The stub has a specific 2 degree offset to position the shift towards the driver. This part is reversible to work for both LHD and RHD cars.
Race cross drilled fill / drain plugs
Lightweight stainless steel transmission fill and drain sump plug.
We have made the plug with a cross drilled head making it simple to lock wire.
Alfaholics-R Close Ratio Gear Kit
This gear set is a must for high powered cars as the (very low ratio) standard first gear becomes essentially unusable as it was originally selected by Alfa’s engineers for engines of around 100 bhp. As a result we fit this gear set to all Alfaholics GTA-R builds as the extra torque allows a much higher 1st gear to be used without compromising performance. With a longer first gear, 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear can be stacked closer together to ensure the engine revs drop back onto peak torque when changing gear, resulting in much improved acceleration through the gears. This kit uses a 0.86 5th gear ratio for optimised rev drop in 5th for racing use.
